SPECIAL SERIES: CAREERS IN CLEAN ENERGY INNOVATION
Featuring Dr. Kimberly Wise White of the American Chemistry Council, Kylie Van Aken of Vartega Inc., and Dr. Styliani Avrramidou of Texas A&M Energy Institute
Three Manufacturing USA® institutes — IACMI, RAPID and REMADE — are proud to join forces and host a special series of webinars on Careers in Clean Energy Innovation.
Interested in learning more about Careers in Clean Energy Innovation? Join Manufacturing USA Institute’s REMADE, IACMI, and RAPID on Tuesday, June 29, for a panel discussion on the latest trends in careers for the Circular Economy, advanced composites, and process intensification.
Hear from industry and academic experts as they share lessons and experiences from their own career paths.
Dr. Kimberly Wise White, Vice President, Regulatory and Technical Affairs Division, American Chemistry Council
As Vice President of the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Regulatory and Technical Affairs Division, Dr. White oversees the development of ACC’s policy positions in response to regulatory and legislative proposals. She also leads a staff of experts to identify, analyze and create technical and policy materials.
Dr. White has more than a decade of experience in the chemical industry, focused on managing science policy issues, scientific research, and product stewardship programs to inform regulatory decision-making. Most recently, she served as Senior Director for ACC’s Chemical Products and Technology Division. She also represented industry in chemical policy discussions with various audiences, including testimony to U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate Committees.
Kylie Van Aken, Mechanical Engineer, Vartega Inc.
Kylie started at Vartega in June 2018 through an internship with IACMI where she focused on optimizing Vartega's post processing techniques. Through this internship Kylie had the opportunity to learn about the carbon fiber creation and disposal process, the value of carbon fiber, and the importance of reintroducing waste carbon fiber into manufacturing. After completing the internship she joined the Vartega team as a mechanical engineer and continued the work that she started through the internship.
Dr. Styliani Avraamidou, Assistant Research Scientist, Texas A&M Energy Institute
Styliani Avraamidou is an Assistant Research Scientist at the Texas A&M Energy Institute. She holds a MEng and a Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, under the supervision of Professor E. N. Pistikopoulos. Her research focuses on Circular Economy Systems Engineering, Multilevel Optimization, and the Food-Energy-Water Nexus. She will be joining the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as an Assistant Professor in September.
